Safe Routes To School Programs

Poster, T-shirt, or Video Contest

Poster, T-shirt, or Video Contests and similar types of activities are great for engaging middle and high school students in SRTS efforts. Students can get creative for a cause by designing and producing posters, t-shirts, videos, or other materials that communicate about active transportation. A contest like this can be combined with any type of campaign, like a school safety campaign.

Target Audience
Middle school, high school

Campaign, encouragement for students

Increased walking, bicycling, transit use and carpooling
Youth empowerment

Discussion Questions
Would students be interested in participating in a creative contest
Which one of these formats would resonate the most with the school community?
