Safe Routes To School Programs

Student Valet

Student Valet programs have students, teachers, or volunteers that are trained to assist with drop-off and pick-up procedures to expedite and standardize the process. This allows students to get in and out of cars safely and quickly, discouraging parents from unsafe behaviors and reducing hazards for students arriving or leaving school.

Target Audience
Elementary, middle school, caregivers

Format
Skills training/hands on training, school journey/pick-up and drop-off

Outcomes
Improved walking/bicycling safety behavior
Improved driving safety behavior

Discussion Questions
Would you be more likely to allow your student to walk or bike to school if there were a program like this?
Would you or someone you know be willing to participate in a drop-off student valet program?
